September 16 2010

Well I finely got off yesterday Wednesday September 15.  The wind was out of the west, the direction I was headed.  It was quite blustery, I tried to sail with only the Jib but it was too much.  It was a slog!  I stopped at Vineyard Haven at 2:00 PM.  After some rest and lunch I pushed on to Tarpaulin Cove to spend the night.  I could not get on line to make an entry on my blog.

This morning I got off at 6:00 AM.  With the gale predicted for tonight I opted to sail, I actually got to sail, to Newport RI, to get a mooring.  I went ashore to shower and do some laundry and while I waited for the dryer I took in the Boat Show, the gate was open no charge! I hope to head off to Essex CT tomorrow, weather permitting.

  1. Dad, I am so excited for you! You've begun your journey. We are awaiting your arrival in Maryland and will have a warm meal and Guinness ready for you!

I think it is amazing that you will be able to log your trip on this blog and soon enough Liam will be able to see what great adventures his Grandpa has taken and then he'll be begging to go on his own!

    Congratulations again! We love you!

    Love always, Colleen

  3. The bartender at the Club Car said you left half a Dark n Stormy there last weekend. I'll bring it down to you when you hit Manhattan.

  4. That last comment was actually not from Dave. I forgot to change the name from the time he hijacked my site to run a gambling casino. Anyway, the bartender at the Club Car said he knew the Dark n Stormy was yours because of the Myers bouquet.
